Benchmark audio quality

Solid State Logic consoles set audio quality benchmarks for other manufacturers to follow. All SSL consoles deliver a pristine audio path with exceptionally low noise floor and very high bandwidth. The sound of SSL EQ, Dynamics, Noise Control Processing and Surround positioning tools is legendary for its depth of tonal quality, accuracy and wealth of features. With SSL you will never need to question the audio fidelity of your console or its processors, giving you the peace of mind that your work will always sound superb and that minimal time will be required to achieve a great sounding balance.

  • SSL consoles are trusted by audio professionals worldwide to deliver a pristine audio signal path

Traditional signal flow – every channel has full processing as standard

On the C10, there is always enough DSP power available to provide dedicated EQ, Dynamics and Panorama processing for every channel, with flexible signal process ordering. Because you are never forced to compromise in terms of available DSP power, you will never need to lose time allocating and re-allocating DSP to audio processing and routing functions.

  • Processing availability ensures no DSP re-allocation is necessary

The most refined and elegant 5.1 handling available today

SSL consoles are trusted by audio professionals worldwide to deliver the pristine audio signal path required to meet the demands of HD 5.1 audio. Multi-channel signals are presented on a single fader, making the running of even complex 5.1 productions uniquely simple and intuitive. At the press of a button, any fader can be spilt into its component parts for individual configuration. The C10’s new, highly innovative stereo-to-5.1 upmix facility ensures sound-field stability during transitions between stereo and 5.1 material, while being fully compatible with stereo and mono downmixes. SSL’s ‘Touch Pan’ provides intuitive touch screen based detailed 5.1 sound field positioning.

  • Single fader 5.1 mix control simplifies surround production, with complete 5.1 mixes folded together under a single fader or released onto adjacent faders
  • Pristine audio signal path caters for demands of HD 5.1 production
  • A full processing toolkit is retained regardless of mono/stereo/5.1 format
  • Intelligent stereo-5.1 Upmix
  • Touch Pan provides detailed 5.1 positioning

The finest EQ, Dynamics & Delays

SSL has been providing the very highest quality audio processing tools for decades. With SSL processing you can be confident that you will deliver benchmark audio quality from tools that are accurate, responsive and extremely easy to use. Classic SSL four-band parametric EQ that is a superb all round frequency adjustment tool kit. Whether you need pinpoint accuracy for surgical problem solving, smoother broader sound shaping or a little more aggressive character the SSL EQ will give you what you need. This is a fully featured EQ with high- and low-bands switchable between shelving, bell curves or filters, and two mid-bands switchable between bell curves, shelving or notch filters. SSL’d Dynamics processing is renowned for smooth transparency making it ideal for broadcast applications.

Streamlined System Configuration tools

System Administrators will appreciate the logical and straightforward way in which the immense power and sophistication of the SSL software environment is organised and presented. The C10 HD operating environment has evolved from decades of broadcast console design and is packed with features designed to make system set up as simple and efficient as possible.

Advanced Routing Control

The C10’s integral digital routing system uses no external computer systems or third party hardware requirements. Routing to and from I/O and DSP may be achieved quickly and with great flexibility with multiple routes being made in one operation and multi-channel signals routed as a single bundle, or as ‘breakouts’. Each channel has one independently configurable output which can be used to provide N-1 or parallel clean/ISO feed. Precise Delay adjustment of up to 5.4 seconds is available on subgroup busses and channels, for lip-sync correction of video feeds.

  • Multiple signals routed in one operation
  • Multiple, configurable channel inputs and outputs
  • Cue feeds set up instantly via single-press Mix-Minus creation function
  • No-hassle, facility-wide signal routing is also available using a MORSE router

Comprehensive GPI control

The GPI control options within the C10 HD meet a wide range of practical integration challenges. Audio-Follow-Video (AFV) and advanced controls of external equipment are included, allowing powerful control combinations to be realised.

Control Linking

SSL’s unique Control Linking™ feature allows per-channel recall of previously stored default settings for a source when routed to an input. This results in massive reductions in setup time, and allows inexperienced operators to employ pre-configured settings for each input source.

The list of parameters includes:
  • Format of the source (mono/stereo/5.1)
  • Bussing, and routing of direct/N-1 outputs
  • Standard GPI control interfacing for the source (eg. cough switch/fader start)
  • Free control definitions
  • Audio processing parameters (eg. EQ, Dynamics, etc)
