With their new private recording facility in Santa Monica, California, producers Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis have taken delivery of five new AWS 900 consoles with Total Recall from GC Pro.
Flyte Tyme, as Jam and Lewis' team is know, is the most successful production duo in contempory music, with more than 100 gold, platinum and multi-platinum records. Currently working on Janet Jackson's new album, Flyte Tyme have produced for the likes of Bryan Adams, Sting, Usher, Boyz II Men, Mya and Shaggy, to name just a few.
With the AWS 900, Jam and Lewis are able to take advantage of two crucial components of their production method: the signature sound of the Solid State Logic SuperAnalogue™ signal path, and total integration with the DAW platforms they use to create their magic.
Lewis is particularly ecstatic about Flyte Tyme's new consoles. "Its nice to finally have a console that seamlessly blends the analogue and digital studio world." he says. "The AWS 900 sounds wide, open, and punchy like an SSL should. We are loving it!"
Ian Cross, Flyte Tyme's long-time staff engineer gives this advice: "Don't even consider buying anything else, buy the [AWS] 900. We are so happy with these console we don't use anything else. The sound is open and punchy, classic SSL. I've never been able to work faster with a console and Pro Tools® and you never need to worry about how it sounds; control your peak levels and you're good to go. Can you tell I love it?"
