Richard Dimmettee of 6/2/4 Productions in Charlotte, NC has taken delivery of an AWS 900 console with Total Recall™.
The AWS 900 console is used for recording and producing solo artists and bands. Main musical styles include Hip Hop, Rap and R & B, as well as all forms of rock and pop.
Current work at 6/2/4 Productions includes a Rap project that has involved composition and recording of the music. Richard gives a run down of a session with the AWS 900: "The console is great because the console integrates the analogue and Pro Tools® layers so well. The MIDI composition was done in Pro Tools®. The analogue side of the console was used to sum all of the output of the leyboards and samplers. After the music was composed, the console was used to route all of the analogue signals into Pro Tools® via the direct inputs. After that the mic pre was used in conjection with a Elam 251 to track the vocals. Then the tracks were sent from Pro Tools® back to the console and mixed. Some EQing was done along with adding compression from the buss compressor. Then the mix bass was feed back into Pro Tools® as a stereo mix."
Richard comments on the AWS 900: "This is one of the best sounding consoles I have ever worked on. The EQs sound great. They are musical as well as being surgical depending on the track. After working on this console for a short period of time, it is almost impossible to work in any studio that is not equipped with an AWS 900. It is great to be able to switch between analogue mode and DAW mode with the hit of a button. Total Recall™ is really fast and turns the board into a workhorse. In this day and age it is important to get that million dollar record sound without being in a million dollar studio. It is also great that the board can be switched from project to project in just a couple of minutes. This console is definitely the future of recording."
